Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind….
The human mind is a very powerful part of one’s makeup. It has been said that as the mind goes, so goes the person. If you can control a person’s mind, you can control the person. Well, that is just another way of saying what the Bible has already said. The Bible says it like this, “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”
This is why Paul wrote to the church at Rome these verses. Paul knew this truth and he also knew that the natural man’s mind goes against the ways of God. Therefore, he wrote to them that they needed to have their minds renewed so that their thinking would match up to their new birth experience.
When we become a Christian, we have a new nature and a new destiny. The only problem is that we have gotten accustomed to doing things our own way, to thinking our own thoughts and our ways and thoughts are not God’s ways and thoughts. The Bible says in Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts
The truth here is that we need to stop our human low thinking and start thinking the high thoughts of God. Therefore, being transformed by changing the way we think so that we can change the way we are.
We need to stop thinking like the world and start thinking like the Word. Spend time allowing the Word of God to permeate your mind and by that, change the way you think.
