good medicine

Proverbs 17:22

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Have you ever had that feeling that you were dried up from the bones out? I have, and it is not a good situation to be in. You will find that if you stay in that place for very long, you will begin to experience a lot of different things, and none of them are any good.

Many people, Christians included, don’t realize that the condition of a person’s soul affects their health and total well-being. When I say soul, I am talking about that person’s inner personality. The mind, the will and the emotions are the primary forces of the soul. The Bible often speaks of the soul as the heart. It is the seat of learning, the intellect, the personality of a person.

It has been said that the condition of the body will be a revelation of the attitude of the mind. In fact, research that has been done in the medical community reveals that what the Bible says about our physical health being affected by the condition of our souls is true. In a book written by Dr. S. I. McMillan called NONE OF THESE DISEASES, he states that medical science recognizes the fact that emotions such as fear, sorrow, envy, resentment and hatred are responsible for the majority of our sicknesses. Estimates vary from 60% to nearly 100%.

Those statistics are astonishing to the natural mind, but should not be so to the the one who is spiritual in his thinking.. The Bible clearly tells us that we are not to give place to or allow those hurtful emotions. We are not supposed to have fear, envy, jealously, and resentment. We are no supposed to worry and fret, but are to cast all our cares upon Jesus, it is He who wants to carry those things for us. It is God’s will that we walk in peace and prosperity. He says that He wants our joy to be full so that our lives can be that way too.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I will not allow the worries of this world to rob my soul of its vitality and strength; I will have a merry heart.
