i was blind, now i see

John 9:25

He answered and said unto them, Whether He is a sinner or not, I know not; one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.

This verse is dealing with the situation that arrived when Jesus healed a blind man. Now you know that the religious leaders of the day were dead set against Jesus and hated to see Him perform these miracles. They were causing Him to gain popularity with the common folk, the ones who had needs and the ones that He healed. To try to stop this spread, the leaders of the synagogue were trying to discredit Jesus.

Here they had a man blind from birth who was now seeing and praising Jesus. This made a real impact on the ones that knew Him. Obviously there was no way to deny the miracle, so the leaders were going to try to find fault with Jesus. The did so by prompting the once blind man to acknowledge that Jesus was a sinner.

I love the answer he gave them. In reality, he said, “Hey, I don’t know all the theology that you do, I don’t know if he is a sinner or not. All I know is that once I was blind and now I can see.”

You know the same is still true today. We don’t have to know a lot of theology or have been to Bible School or seminary to be a witness for the Lord. A testimony is simply telling what Jesus has done for you and is one of the most powerful witnesses you can have. You don’t have to have all the answers to all their questions. Just keep telling them about how Jesus has changed your life. You may argue theology, but when you say that once I was blind, or once I was sick, or once I was an alcoholic, once I was broke, once I was a sinner and the list goes on and on, you have put a real glitch in the critic’s system. So, just keep on praising Jesus and telling the world what He has done for you.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I once was blind but now I can see. Praise the Lord.
