Hebrews 10:9
Then said He, “Lo, I come to do thy will O God.” He taketh away the first that He may establish the second.
God has always treated man with the best that He has to offer. He put them in a beautiful garden where everything was perfect. They were given total control and dominion over everything on this earth. This was truly the Utopia that so many have dreamed about since.
We all know the rest of the story of how man sinned and alienated himself from the God who created him. But, what many do not realize is that God always had a plan for the redemption or the reestablishing of man and God together in an unbroken fellowship.
At first, it was in the dispensation or time of Law. Man was required to bring sacrifices and blood offerings from animals to God. This was very burdensome and very taxing on their lives, but was necessary in the plan of redemption that God had for man. We know that these were types and shadows of the future and final sacrifice that was to be made by Jesus, the Son of and perfect Lamb of God. When Jesus came and died, He became the final sacrifice that would be offered for man’s sin. He was all we would ever need to have our sin forgiven and our relationship renewed.
Now, as hard and burdensome as the Law was, some people at that time did not want to change. They had become comfortable in their misery and had gotten used to the bondage. The even found security in it. When Jesus came to take away the first and establish the second, they were angry and many rejected and still do reject.
Isn’t that just like us? God has a better way with better blessings and man wants to hang on to the old. Remember that often times even today, God will take away the old things in our lives to move us on to His new and better ways. Don’t be like some and want to hold on to the old. Trust God; let Him bring that new and better way into your life. He always gives the best to those who leave that choice to Him. Trust Him to give you His best today.
