alive in christ

Ephesians 2:1

And you, hath he made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.

The epistle to the Ephesian church is filled with deep and wonderful truths that will enable and empower the believer who comprehends them and is able to apply them to everyday life.

One of the greatest and most revolutionary of these teachings has to do with the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and how that applies to believers now. Through Paul, the Holy Spirit is saying that as a believer, you have been quickened, or made alive "according to the working of the strength of His might when He raised Jesus from the dead and also you, when you were dead."

The same verb in Ephesians 1:20 that expresses the reviving of Christ from the dead also expresses the reviving of His people in Ephesians 2:1. In other words, the act of God that raised Christ from the dead also raised His Body. In the mind of God, when Jesus was raised from the dead, we were raised from the dead!

Reading further, Ephesians 2:5,6, we find that even when we were dead in trespasses and sins, He has made us alive together with Christ and has raised us up with Him and made us to sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. This confers to each and every believer the authority to live for Christ on this earth, now.

If you notice, the Head (Christ) and the Body ( the Church) were raised together. This means that authority was granted not just to the Head, but also upon the Body, because the Head and the Body are one. When you think of a person, you think of the head and the body as one. The Bible says that we are the Body of Christ, therefore, we are one with Him, what He has, we have. If we will get this revelation that we are the Body of Christ, we will rise up to do the works of Christ! This authority belongs to each and every believer.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have been made alive with Christ and have authority upon this earth as a part of His Body.
