Malachi 3:7
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you . . .
One might think when they read the title of this devotion that it is going to be about a trip somewhere. In essence, it is. It is about a trip that no one should take. The point of departure that I am talking about is not an airport or seaport. I am talking about the point at which a person departs from God and His will.
It is not uncommon in the ministry to have people say to us something like this: “I know that I have missed God and His will and I want to get back, what can I do?” Some will go on to say that they have been out of God’s will for years and aren’t even sure that they can get back because by now, God is surely upset with them and will not let them come back.
Maybe you have found or find yourself in that same situation. If so, I have some good news for you. It doesn’t matter how far you have gotten away from God or how long you have been out of His will, it only takes a few seconds to get back. The fact is it only takes as long as it takes to repent and turn back to God, He is waiting for you.
You may be wondering how you get back to where God wants you to be. Now comes the importance of the point of departure. You see, the point of return is always going to be the point of departure. In other words, the place where you left God’s will and purpose is the place that you have to go back to. Just as it was with Jonah, when he came to himself, the call was the same as it was before the great fish and he had to get back to the business of going to Nineveh.
God said that if we would return unto Him, that He would return unto us. As it has always been, God is waiting for us to get ready to come back to him. When you find your point of departure, you can find the point of arrival and get back in on what God is up to in your life.
