Matthew 15:33
And His disciples said unto Him, "From where should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?"
Can you picture in your mind the dilemma the disciples were facing in the text of this verse? For three days, Jesus had been ministering to 4000 men and who knows how many women and children were there. He had been healing the people of all kinds of sickness and disease. The lame got up and walked, the deaf could hear, blind eyes were opened, leprosy was cured, there just wasn’t any limit to what all had gone on during the past three days.
You would think that in an excited and faith-filled atmosphere like this that there would not have been any doubt or unbelief remaining. God's power and miracle-working ability had been abundantly manifested. He had shown that He was willing and able to meet every need of man. Yet, as Jesus brought the disciples to face the impossible task of trying to feed all the people before they passed out, they were helpless. In the face of this impossibility, they themselves, lost faith.
Isn't that just like God? He works miracles and stirs up faith then tests us by putting us into impossible situations to see if we have learned anything worth while from His teaching and demonstration. You can mark it down, this is a normal operating procedure for God.
Remember back in the Old Testament when God brought Israel out of Egypt with great miracles and wonders. Just a short journey out, He brought them to an impossible situation. Pharaoh's army was behind them and the Red Sea was before them. That is a tough place to be in, unless you have God on your side. He demonstrated His ability by parting the sea and then drowning the whole Egyptian army.
Perhaps you have come to an impossible place in your life. Remember that God brings us to these places so that we can learn to trust in Him. In the midst of impossibilities, put your faith and trust in God.
