Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

In a world of tremendous tumult and fury, it is good to know that we can have peace in the midst of all of this strife and turmoil. The Bible gives us the way to live in that peace in spite of all that is going on around us that would try to cause us to live in fear.

We must remember this one thing, God wants us to dwell in peace. It is never His will for us to be anxious or to be in turmoil and strife. He said the He wants His peace to rule in our hearts. (Col. 3:15)

Any time there is not the peace of God in our hearts, we need to run a test to determine what has happened to cause the peace leave. I have found that peace leaves when we think on things that are disturbing to us. The fact that these things are usually not under our control has little or nothing to do with the situation. In these times, we must learn to put our faith and trust in the Lord. We must acknowledge that He is in control and that He can handle all things with ease. In Isaiah 26:3, we are told that we will be kept in perfect peace if we will keep our minds stayed on the Lord. Very often the source of unrest and lost peace can be traced back to looking at the problems around us instead of looking to the One who can control the problems.

Don’t allow the thief of worry to steal away your peace. There is one good way to keep that from happening. It is important to start working on it as soon a possible. This way is to build castles in your life. A castle is a veritable fortress. It is a safe haven. There is a process that happens when we dwell on thoughts. Thoughts lead to imaginations and these imaginations build up into strongholds. Now you can see why Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on things that are pure, honest, lovely, just, virtuous and of good report. These things will build a stronghold in our lives that will fight against worry and preserve our peace of mind.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have perfect peace of mind because I keep my mind on things that build a stronghold of peace in my life.
