Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
Life has its ups and downs, its smooth times and its rough times. No one ever said that there would not be these times. It has never been promised that we would only see calm waters and smooth sailing. In fact, just the opposite is true. The Bible says that while we are on this earth, we will see tribulation and we will have trials.
The promise is that even in the midst of the trials, God will be with us. He has said that He would never leave us nor forsake us. His Word to us is that we will make it through. He said that when we pass through the rivers, they will not overflow us and when we pass through the flames, they will not kindle against us. So, there will be flood times and fiery trials, but, we will make it through.
God is a mighty God and he is on our side. This truth makes all the difference in the world to us. If we know that He is on our side, then we can know that we will make it. As it is written, If God be for us, who can be against us? Our God is able to protect and turn the bad situations around and even make the bitter experiences sweet to us.
I will be the first to agree that not all that happens to us in life is good. Sometimes we get out of God’s will, sometimes we go through times of disobedience, and sometimes things come against us for no other reason than the fact that we have an enemy who is against God and all that God is for. This enemy is bent on stealing from you, trying to kill you and on destroying anything good that you have and hold dear. In these times, it is good to know that God can even cause the bad things in our lives to work for good. In the hard times, when you don’t understand what is going on, just remember that God loves you and has promised to make the hard times work for you and your good. Now that is a different way to look at it isn’t it?
