Who is like unto the, Lord our God, who dwelleth on high?
There is no doubt that the traditional view that is taught concerning the sovereignty of God is robbing many Christians. It is immobilizing faith and stealing away victory. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in the sovereignty of God, I just don’t believe in it the way that I hear most everyone talking and teaching about it. This includes Christians and non Christians alike.
The dictionary defines sovereignty as supreme power, the greatest in rank. I fully agree with that definition, God truly is that indeed. The problem I have with the the general community of believers and also non believers is the popular misconception that God either causes or is responsible for all things that happen.
Those who hold this view point see natural disaster and tragedy as God’s dealing with men. How many times did I hear people talking about the disaster of 9/11say that we just have to trust God, that He knew what He was doing. I tell you, God did not do that. It is the devil who steals, kills and destroys, not God. It is time we quit blaming God for all the evil in the world that the devil is doing.
Yes, God is sovereign and in that sovereignty, He has given certain areas of authority to man and said, “Now, you handle this.” He has given man authority and dominion over all the powers of darkness, He has said that we are to declare the kingdom of God and its rule in our lives and the areas that we have influence over. We have the responsibility to use this authority and power to subdue our enemy.
This is the reason that we can truly operate in faith, exercising this authority as God’s ambassadors on this earth. He has left us in charge, and said to declare, “His kingdom come and His will be done on this earth.” It is not what will be, will be, we can make things be that should be. Don’t just sit back and let the devil have his way.
