he’s all we need

1 Timothy 2:5-6

For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all men -- the testimony given in its proper time.

we do not need to have another human, no matter who it may be, nor how mighty, pious, or special, that he may be to intercede for us before God. As His children, we can go freely, knowing that God himself has provided the perfect mediator between Himself and us. That mediator, alone, is head of the Church and Chief Priest before God on our behalf. His name is Christ Jesus, and He is our Lord, Savior and brother.

I am so thankful that the preceding paragraph is true. This truth has far reaching implications. Not only does it mean that anyone who wants can be saved and brought into the forgiveness of their sins, but also that they can be brought into the fellowship of God, their creator and Heavenly Father. Just think how terrible it would be to have to go to some man who would go to God on our behalf. You may have to stand in line for hours, days, or even weeks, depending on how many were “qualified” to go to God. Can’t you just imagine, with the nature of man being as it is, that soon it would be so costly that only the rich and privileged would ever get their requests heard before God?

In verses preceding these, we see that God not only wants all men to be saved, He also want them to come to the knowledge of the truth. This truth is that God is not a respecter of persons, He wants all His children to come to Him and receive the abundant blessing that He has for them. These blessings include, health, prosperity, a heart full of joy and all the other good things that one can imagine.

It is so wonderful to be able to say, “O God, you are my God, and I praise you for making access to you so freely available. You not only provided a ransom for my sin, but you also provided for my approach to you in Christ Jesus, my mediator. Thank you, God.”

MY WORD CONFESSION: I have my sins forgiven and the ability to come before the Father by my mediator, Christ Jesus, the Lord.
