Mark 1:15
The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
The Bible lets us know beyond any doubt that even though we are in this world, we are not to be of this world. What does that mean? It means that while we do live and exist here on this earth, that we are of another kingdom and another realm. Sure, we have to eat, drink, work, do business and all the other things that regular people do, but we are a part of a much greater and superior kingdom than that of this world.
The world is a system that is failing. It will one day, and I believe very soon, be done away with. When that happens, all who are of this world system will perish along with the earth. God is getting ready to set up His new heaven and new earth. All who have been born again, past and present, will be a part of that new regime. In this new kingdom, the Bible says that we will rule and reign with Christ.
So, then what is to be our role and our mind set while we are here on earth, living in this dispensation? Are we to just get by, hanging on, biding our time until the Lord sets up His new kingdom? I think not. If you read the Bible, the admonition is for us to be out in the world. We are to be telling with our mouths and showing with our lives that the kingdom of God is at hand. We are to be about the work that Jesus left His disciples doing, that is winning the lost, healing the sick, casting out devils. We are to be teaching kingdom principles, showing how to live holy and victorious lives in the midst of a sinful and defeated world.
Jesus said that we are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. What does light do? It illuminates and reveals the way. What does salt do? It seasons and preserves. That is exactly what we are to do, we are to show the way, to preserve righteousness and to lead by our example. The reason that we are left here on this earth, is so that we can be world changers. Get to work today and by God’s grace, change the world around you. Be a world changer.
