a good resolve

Romans 14:13

Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to be a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.

There are many good goals and pursuits in this life. We are told in the Bible of many things that we should seek to do. We are told to seek after things that are pure, honest, just and of good report. We are also told to fill our lives with the fruit of the Spirit. And, of course, we are admonished to be filled with the Spirit. I guess the point that I am trying to make here is that the Bible is filled with good information for us. It is a great source of direction and guidance in a world that desperately needs to be directed and guided.

One of the things that the critics of the Bible miss is the good life that we all would enjoy if we would just simply apply the principles of living in a society that the Bible teaches, our world would be a much better place to live. There are many good and ethical teachings given to us in the pages of the Scriptures that apply to everyday life.

One of the instructions that the Bible gives to us is not to judge one other. So many of the problems of our society and of our churches are rooted in judgment of one another. We are never taught to be the judge of another person. That is God’s department and He is capable of taking care of His business extremely well without our help.

MY WORD CONFESSION: I will not judge others and will not be a stumbling block or occasion for them to stumble.
